Within a half hour of our hotels, you will find a dozen good reasons to plan your next wine tasting trip to Cambria. The Pacific Coast Wine Trail encompasses eleven local wineries, nestled in quaint, seaside towns dotted along scenic highway 1.
Cambria is home to 5 of the wineries and our craft brewery is a perfect place to begin your journey and check out the other nearby attractions. Explore Hearst Castle in San Simeon, and visit Sebastian's to taste the Hearst Ranch wines. South to Harmony and a stop in Cayucos, will reveal the wine experience is as unique as the coastal communities themselves. You will enjoy hand-crafted, boutique wines, often poured by the owners or winemakers. Many of the tasting rooms are right in Cambria, and close enough to make it a walking wine tour! Download the Passport HERE and remember to get your visits stamped…only 6 stamps and you can enter to win a fabulous lifestyle giveaway.
Starting in Cambria's West Village, tucked into a courtyard, you will find the Black Hand Cellars tasting room.Owner and winemaker Tom Banish's background includes over fifteen years experience with the Central Coast's very own prestigious wineries, such as Justin, Treana, Zenaida and Paso Robles Wine Services. The name evolved through the many stories from a great grandmother on the Banish side of the family told about how her husband made great wine…and how the Black Hand Mafia found a liking to his wine and would seek him out for it. Moonstone Cellars offers a wide range of varietals from light-bodied whites to hearty, full-bodied reds. Each vintage is created in small lots with care and craftsmanship. And when Todd is not stomping on grapes, you can find him behind our barrel bar sharing stories, wine tips, and winemaking secrets. On April Fool's Day in 2007, he opened the doors of his own tasting room. Since then he has garnered over 200 awards for his handcrafted wines. Cutruzzola Vineyards has two acres planted to Riesling and five acres to Pinot Noir on steep hillsides in a cool-climate site that is ideal for these varietals. Stand in the vineyard, and on most days you'll be warmed by sunlight and cooled by ocean breezes. The tasting room is upscale yet casual…like our wine. Cutruzzola Vineyards is located in a coastal valley just outside the town of Cambria on California's Central Coast. By fortune of geology, many of our vineyard blocks contain limestone which limits yield and enhances quality. 927 Beer Company is a family-owned micro brewery in the heart of the West Village of Cambria California. Originally called Cambria beer, now 927 Beer Company, this nano-brewery has an eclectic selection of unique beers and is located in Cambria's West Village near Black Hand Cellars and Moonstone Cellars.
Cambria's East Village is where you will find Twin Coyotes Winery. Wines are handmade in small batches, with attention to detail to produce premium wines. Great wines start in the vineyard, and they only use sustainably-farmed grapes, either from their own Coyote Moon Vineyard or from other vineyards in the Paso Robles area that adhere to their standards and principles of sustainability. Just minutes from Main Street, two miles up Scenic Santa Rosa Creek Road, visitors find a restored farmhouse that sits at the base of a beautiful 9-acre vineyard. Stolo Family Vineyards is the only fully operational vineyard, tasting room, and winery in Cambria. The farmhouse, old dairy barn, and ranch-hand quarters date back to the late 1800's. The new rustic tasting room and winery overlook the vineyards, for the full wine tasting experience. This cool climate location produces award winning estate pinot noir, syrah, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, and dry gewürztraminer.
A few miles north of Cambria, San Simeon is home to the world famous Hearst Castle and to Hearst Ranch Winery, located inside the historic Sebastian's General Store, located across Highway 1 from the castle. The hand-crafted offerings of Hearst Ranch Winery have been brought to life through the collaboration of sound agricultural practices and the fruit grown exclusively from California's Central Coast vineyards. Resulting wines are among the finest in the world.
Heading south, you will find the charming town of Harmony, population 16 and you will find Harmony Cellars, a small, family-owned and operated winery committed to producing fine wines at affordable prices. Founded in 1989 , Harmony Cellars was the 17th winery established in the Paso Robles AVA. Harmony Cellars produces 7,000 cases annually with the majority of wine being sold to club members and tasting room visitors. Continuing south, the next stop is Cayucos, and the charming transformed dairy that is now Cayucos Cellars, deep in the hills of Cayucos. The tasting room, located in beautiful downtown Cayucos is just a step from the beach, where you can enjoy watching local surfers or stroll the pier. The last stop on our wine tour is in Morro Bay.Chateau Margene's tasting room is on the Embarcadero in Morro Bay where you can sample wines and olive oils. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet-based blends from the Paso Robles area, with a focus on Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays grown in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County. Winemaker Michael Mooney's families long time history in the Los Osos/Morro Bay area, goes back 5 generations to the Canada de Los Osos Mexican land grant given to Victor Linares in 1842. Cuatro Dias Winery is a small production winery that sources fruit from select vineyards in Paso Robles, Santa Barbara County, Los Olivos and the Santa Ynez Valley to produce premium wines each harvest. Cuatro Dias Wines are sold in fine restaurants and wine bars throughout California. The tasting room is located on Highway 41 in Morro Bay. And MCV Wines was born of the discovery that some of the highest quality Petite Sirah grapes are grown in the Paso Robles AVA, yielding high quality, small lot wines, unique and interesting blends with a focus on Petite Sirah. Expect the unexpected from the unique blend choices and rare grape varietals.
